In 2013, Elias Vrochidis set out to explore the African continent and the Middle East with his small, old motorcycle. For ten months, during the most challenging part of the journey, Western and Central Africa, he was accompanied by Christina Pefani on her own motorcycle. When she flew back to Greece, Elias worked for two and a half months in a restaurant in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Then, he continued his journey alone through Southern and Eastern Africa, as well as the Middle East. He returned to Greece in 2016, having visited 39 countries and covered 96,000 kilometers (more than twice the circumference of the earth)!

With this book, he wants to transport the reader to the dusty and much-suffering continent of Africa, familiarizing them with the cultures he encounters along the way, the people he meets, their problems, their joys, the wild nature in which they live, and the adventures he faces himself. His goal is to break the stereotypes we all have about this corner of the earth.

Elias spent 223 nights in his tent, in nature, and another six in police stations! He stayed in 17 villas with pools. He was hosted by royal advisors, black people, white people, mixed-race people, locals, immigrants, Israelis, Palestinians… His goal is always to get to know every side of the places he visits, not just the one that is usually showcased…
