I consider it particularly positive that the third edition of the book "Methodology of Educational Research" has been sold out. I hope that the book has contributed to the guidance of students, educators, and researchers in research methodology. I want to believe that the exhaustion of previous editions coincides with a stronger involvement of educators in research, as observed in recent years, and reflects the strengthening of the research culture in the field of Cypriot education.


The reissue of the book provides an opportunity to adapt its content based on the changes that have occurred in the field of research as a result of new technologies, as well as based on the variations in the technical elements of research, as recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA). This edition follows the approach of the previous one, attempting to make the methodology of educational research as accessible as possible to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as to educators who intend to study research-related topics. 

This goal is achieved through a rational, linear presentation of the stages of conducting research and by including a sufficient number of examples for each stage. The various chapters are not independent of each other but present a logical sequence and coherence. Each new chapter builds on the previous ones, and together they form a whole, which begins with identifying the research problem and ends with the evaluation of the research.


In summary, this book provides students and educators with basic information necessary for understanding the research process, so that they can read and comprehend research studies published in journals or independently, as well as design their own research according to their interests. The authors believe that if someone decides to carry out research and follows the course described in each chapter of the book, they will not encounter significant difficulties in conducting and completing the research. On the occasion of the reissue of the book, I would like to thank my colleagues who helped substantially improve the new edition with their comments and suggestions. 

This work would not have been possible without the thorough linguistic review by Lia Mirali. I would also like to thank the talented Stelios Smyrillis for creating and editing the cover. I would also like to thank my students who contributed to identifying the points that were unclear in the previous edition and helped me seek their better explanation. 

Finally, I owe the greatest thanks to my family, whose support enabled me to complete this work, even without the contribution of my father, a contribution that unfortunately was hindered due to his death.
