The heroine of the work Princess lives in the American South married to the elderly Jayme, who owns a general store, which is managed by his young wife. In their small town comes the young Val, whom Princess hires as an employee in the store. The passionate love of the two young people has a bad ending when Val-Orpheus tries to take Princess-Eurydice with him, whom Jayme-Pluton kills, keeping her forever in the Hades of his small town.
