Description

The book "Geology of Earthquakes" deals with topics from the field of geosciences for the study and understanding of "modern" and "recent" geological structures and processes, which are directly related to the geological phenomenon of earthquakes. The main object of such an effort is active faults (definition, characterization, mapping, and study). The interdisciplinary approach to the study of recent movements of the earth's crust is mainly carried out from the perspective of Morphotectonics, Quantitative Neotectonic Analysis, Paleoseismology, and Seismotectonics, with the contribution of other scientific disciplines such as Tectonic Geodesy, Remote Sensing, Archaeoseismology, etc. The book provides several examples of neotectonic-seismic structures from Greece and other countries with intense active tectonics and extensive bibliography for further study. It is primarily aimed at undergraduate students of Geology who are taught the subject of Neotectonics, but also at postgraduate students or other scientists dealing with topics of Tectonic Geology, Geomorphology-Morphotectonics, Seismology-Geophysics, Engineering Geology, Tectonic Geodesy, and Soil Mechanics, among others.
