Salem's Lot is one of the most famous and significant works of Stephen King. The story takes place in Jerusalem's Lot or Salem's Lot, and the protagonist is Ben Mears, a writer who returns to the homeland where he grew up and which marked his childhood. After his return, strange events will soon begin to occur: the murder of a dog, the disappearance of two children, and the opening of a shop by two mysterious people are some of the events that will trigger a series of developments that no resident could have imagined. The danger is great and apparently… eternal. The influences from earlier horror writers like Lovecraft are evident, and it also seems that some books that Stephen King himself read influenced him in writing this book. The way the plot is structured, I can say that I didn't like it, because it takes quite a while for the real story to begin. Also, there are way too many names. For someone who reads a lot of books, it is difficult to learn and remember so many characters. Overall, it is one of the good books of the author and proves once again that King is not just the king of horror literature, but of literature in general these days.

In order to write 760 pages, the author often deviates from the subject, resulting in moments where you are absorbed in the reading and suddenly become disappointed. Additionally, there are many pages dedicated to describing scenes that were supposed to be included but were changed. If the book was 350 pages and stayed focused on the subject, it would have been great. It is incredibly exhausting. I finished it with great effort and finally I can go back to watching Netflix.
