The automatic double-sided printing doesn't work. It throws the paper and then prints in the air. Many times it jams the paper and the wireless connection is a headache if you don't use their app, which is also quite tedious. The first print takes an unreasonably long time, but if you don't print often, it's not a problem. Just for the automatic duplex that essentially doesn't work, 1 star from me.
Good but it empties the ink cartridges immediately and then you have to spend another 40€ for new ones. Right next to it, I have a 25-year-old Epson Stylus 1000 inkjet printer that, with the same ml cartridge, prints 600 pages and more, and I just refill the same cartridge for only 2€ since I can't find a new one for it due to its age.
With the only negative being the accessibility of the app and the ease of printing until you get used to it and learn it, otherwise it is an excellent purchase. Fast response and printing, high-quality printing image and scanner (digital file). Value for money for any household use!
The printer worked fine for the first year and a half. Apart from the insane ink consumption, the print heads constantly lose their alignment and everything prints crooked. I've tried realigning them through Canon's program but it doesn't work and just wastes ink. Don't waste your money on this machine, invest a little more and get something else
It is a printer that is easy to install (personally, I struggled with paper placement) and offers what it promises depending on its low price. I recently got it for home use and I am satisfied. Also, if you have any operational issues, download the corresponding assistant, which explains everything.
Unacceptable with the ink, I bought the black XL and the colored XL together, intending to print only black and white. It arrived a little above the middle, but the colored one ran out!!!!!! Unacceptable, 2 stars at most. Do not buy if you print only black and white
Buy it for 60 euros. If you want something simple, take it with closed eyes. Double printing. Printing from mobile. I printed a photo and was impressed by its quality
At the price I got it (55 euros), it's probably the best I could have gotten. Canon stands out for its devices with easy installation and user-friendly software that doesn't clutter your computer with junk. I've been using and equipping small professional spaces with Canon for years. Firstly, once in so many years that I needed to return a defective product within warranty, the behavior of the dealership was exemplary. The reason I preferred it over the competition is: a) I don't approach Hp, support is almost non-existent in Greece and hp software is heavy for no reason, especially for the average user. b) Epson, although it has good machines, has expensive consumables. c) Canon accepts imitation or refilled inks in most models. The only thing I have to add against it is that its plastics are not as they used to be. Recycled now, I think, and clearly not designed to last as long as they used to.
I replaced a much more expensive all-in-one printer, specifically an HP 8600 plus, and kept a small basket. I'm really impressed with everything, print quality, decent speed. Printing on glossy 10x15 photo paper is very good. Scanning from the ADF is completely trouble-free, while with the HP 8600 plus I had to help each page to get it... Even the lack of automatic double-sided scanning, which you only find in much more expensive machines, didn't bother me at all. It's done very easily, as it scans all your pages and tells you to reposition all the pages with the opposite orientation in the ADF again and finally, you have double-sided scanning ready in a few minutes. Absolutely satisfied with the purchase. Go ahead without fear.
The printer is excellent. I have been using it for almost 4 years without any problems, even refilling its ink. HOWEVER, a connectivity issue suddenly arose some time ago. I did everything to solve it, suffered quite a bit until the cause of the wifi connectivity problem was found. I suddenly had to change the router from Cosmote because for some reason they no longer worked together. I believe it is the solution to the problem that many are facing according to the comments I read. The router change was free from Cosmote.
For its price and household use, it's great. The prints are okay, at a relatively good speed. What really gave me a hard time was setting up the WiFi. I tried every possible way for a whole afternoon, through the CD ROM, wirelessly, wired, and everything. Eventually, I reset it to factory settings and started over, but it was still difficult to do.
Coming from the Canon mx 495 and due to ink issues, I got this one. The situation with connecting to the computer is tragic, it constantly loses communication. The installation was difficult for me until I figured it out. I have to constantly open it for the computer to recognize it. The print quality is mediocre, but it doesn't bother me because I mainly print documents. I will focus on the daily struggle just to make a simple print. Update: I simply uninstalled the Canon drivers and software, and it works perfectly with Windows.
I just broke it, every time I tried to print via wifi it took me over an hour. I had to delete and add the printer every time just to get it to print, what a hassle!
I am satisfied. I was using EPSON which, for me, is top in colors and everything else. I got this one because of the price for amateur use. It works perfectly in printing and scanning, and with less ink than others. I don't know about the fax, I haven't connected it.
Average in quality and printing speed, especially in color printing, but the biggest negative is that every time I needed it for wireless printing from my laptop or mobile, it hung badly. I sent them for printing and even though the printer appeared to be connected, nothing happened. The tragic thing was that after I couldn't do my job at that time, in random moments in the following days, it would start printing on its own without me even being at the computer. This happened at least 10 times in a couple of months and in emergency situations. It ended up in the trash can along with the ink cartridges that I had just replaced. I didn't regret the money I spent because my mental health is worth more! Let's go back to HP.
Very good value for money. The plastic parts are of decent quality, if that is important to some.
Installation:
Installation on both laptop and mobile is now very easy. Obviously, the new software versions have made things easier compared to what I read from other buyers who had difficulties. It literally does everything on its own during installation. It finds the wireless network and guides you easily.
Print quality:
The prints are excellent both in black and white (dots) and in color. Always with its category in mind. We do not compare it with machines that cost 300 euros. The scanner works flawlessly.
Notable features:
It prints comfortably in full duplex.
The ability to purchase Extra Large ink cartridges is a significant advantage.
It is also a fax machine, which may sound outdated, but it may come in handy.
The accompanying software (printer, photo editing, and fax) as well as the mobile application are very good and easy to use.
Finally, it is good that you can make settings directly from the printer (it has a screen with an easy menu) and you do not need to open your computer. For example, print quality can be set directly on the printer, such as draft quality, and anything printed from a mobile or laptop can be printed in this quality.
In summary:
Excellent for home and light professional use. It is worth its money. It is of good quality construction. It prints exceptionally well for its category. It is easy to install. It has good support. As for durability, it is good to know and remember that machines in this category will work tirelessly for a maximum of 3-5 years. After that, we dispose of them and buy new ones.
Unacceptable after only two years of use (when it wanted to). Today it gave up, informing that it needs repair. Shame on Canon. Money wasted. Photo falling from the 4th soon. I won't even give it to recycling...
After quite a bit of research and reading comments, I ended up with the TR4550, not because I found the best one, but because I couldn't find a better printer for what I was looking for. The construction is really cheap, you think it will break just by lifting it. I connected it with USB because I didn't want wifi. I did some prints on "standard printing" and saw that they weren't particularly good, I haven't printed on "best" yet. Printing is slow compared to the HP 5525 I had, but it's quieter. Buying it was a one-way street because I wanted automatic Duplex Print and two ink cartridges. It should never cost more than 50 euros. I remember the HP 970CXi I had years ago.
For its price, it's amazing for everyday household use! Fast, easy installation, wi-fi that makes it easy if you print from your phone like me, and of course low ink costs
Quality printer/scanner/Fax, fast printing and from what I have seen so far (I have had it for 1 month and bought it for 72.90), it does not consume much ink. (I have done about 250 prints and at least 4 deep cleanings in the beginning due to my own mistake), with the factory black and color still. The color is almost halfway and more, and the black has not run out yet.
I believe the scanning is quite fast, as well as the sending/receiving of FAX, and the installation via USB cable was very easy from the CD included in the package. The same was easily done for the installation via WiFi on the laptop. If anything remarkable occurs in the future, I will come back and update.
I hope I helped potential buyers.
EDIT: 1/11/2023/ The decrease in "stars" rating only applies to the infoquest service!!
God forbid if you need the support of the infoquest service after the warranty expires!!
I sent them a message that the all-in-one device is malfunctioning when connected via WiFi (I discovered this now because I never needed this feature before, as it is connected to the PC via USB. However, I needed it to connect the laptop via WiFi), and additionally, the sending and receiving of Fax is NOT working (I mention this and provide a relevant screenshot for it!!).
I naturally sent them the serial number of the all-in-one device, as requested by them, and because I cannot upload EVERYTHING with a screenshot, the entire conversation is at your disposal!
What did they reply? Very simply that I would have to (indicatively, I emphasize, as they told me) pay over 100 euros for inspection/repair (??)/replacement with the latest model!!! While with 60-65 euros, I can buy the latest model Canon TR 4650 (this price includes shipping+cash on delivery!!). And OF COURSE, I would have to send them the all-in-one device, with MY OWN TRANSPORTATION COSTS, both for sending it to the service and for its return to me!!!
I am attaching a screenshot from part of the conversation, for the sake of truth!!
And when in my last message I mentioned to them that any SENSIBLE person would not accept to be involved in this TORTURE and pay MORE money than what a NEW one costs, they simply... never replied AGAIN!!!
So, pray that you don't need the infoquest service, in case the warranty has expired, because you simply go for recycling the "old" all-in-one device and buy a NEW one!!! In the case that the warranty was still valid, I do not know the result. However, I must share my (unpleasant) experience!!!!
CONCLUSION (my own!): The infoquest service for products whose warranty has expired is COMPLETELY USELESS and WITHOUT SUBSTANCE and REASON FOR EXISTENCE!!!
I bought it last winter on sale for about 55 euros. It's much better than my previous HP. The double-sided printing, wifi connection, and document scanning are quite helpful.
The downside for me is that installation and any settings must be done only through the internet. Also, it seems to print relatively slowly.
For my work as a teacher in a tutoring center, it suits me just fine and seems like a good value for money.
I bought the printer second-hand from a friend who has had it for about six months. I believe it does its job decently for the money. It's easy to connect to a laptop and mobile phone for printing. For home use, the first setup is connected to the router and then you can place it wherever you want wirelessly. It comes with a CD that guides you step by step. I recommend it.
After six months of use...
-It jammed twice, resulting in the need to disassemble the entire bottom part
-The ethernet connection randomly stopped working and only responds through Wifi
-It lost proper communication with the PC, resulting in incorrect paper size recognition
-It needed calibration from the beginning
-The print quality is very poor
-Very slow
-Mediocre plastic, doesn't give a sense of durability
Overall, I wouldn't buy it again. My previous, cheaper Canon was better in almost everything.
