Eight words, spoken by Bela Lugosi to the real estate agent Dwight Frye, a visitor to his Castle, with its cobwebbed grand staircases, half-dark labyrinthine corridors, and moldy underground crypts, in the first recognized film adaptation of Bram Stoker's classic novel.
After its screening (its impact was much greater than that of the silent, expressionist Nosferatu), the fantasy cinema gained another key character - a hero (or an anti-hero, depending on one's perspective), whose adventures would continue to captivate audiences, sometimes through faithful adaptations of the book, sometimes through interesting reinterpretations, and sometimes through stories that either borrow elements from the literary work or have no relation to it at all!
