This book is a theoretically and methodologically structured proposal for introducing Visual Ethnography in education as a teaching method for analyzing the diverse aspects of popular cultures. This proposal highlights a particular method of analyzing popular culture based on research, critical interpretation, and the production of photographic and audiovisual ethnographic evidence by students. Specifically, teaching plans are presented for primary education, which analyze customs and rituals of traditional and contemporary popular culture in Greece and internationally. The teaching proposals are aligned with the principles of the National Curriculum and the School Curriculum of primary education and aim to familiarize children with the aspects and dynamics of folk tradition, as well as to understand the processes of evolution and transformation of cultural phenomena at the local, national, and international levels, thereby enhancing their visual literacy. Additionally, the aim is to raise awareness of their cultural identity and internalize life values such as respect for the diversity of others, collectivity, and collaboration within the framework of the principles of modern intercultural education and inclusive pedagogy.

A useful guide for primary education teachers, which can also be adapted for other levels of education (preschool to tertiary) through appropriate modifications, for the design and implementation of Visual Ethnography teaching scenarios.
