Father Savva warmed frozen hearts, strengthened paralyzed hands, breathed the spirit of faith in God, literally lifted the fallen. From the living source, which was his pure and surrendered heart to God, the staretz drew strength for his great labors. Always lively, joyful, philanthropic, ready to respond to every sorrow and with love to descend to fallen sinners.

Because of his constant care to console, encourage, and dispel the spirit of despondency, his spiritual children called the staretz "staretz-paraclete".
