Description

"History is written by the winners and the powerful," says the rule, but the case of Greek History in the 1940s is a striking exception to this rule. The communists of Greece, decisively defeated in their three violent attempts to seize power and impose a red fascist dictatorship, wrote and succeeded in imposing a fictional mythology as the History. With method, persistence, and the help of hundreds of biased left-wing historians, the events of the period were distorted, embellished, some were silenced, and others were completely distorted or reversed, so that their side always appeared as the only patriotic one, acting virtuously and as the victim!

This distortion did not avoid one of the most tragic episodes of that period, the "Pedomazoma" of thousands of Greek children aged 3-16, which the communists carried out in 1947-49 in the midst of the Rebellion of 1946-49, the third and most criminal attempt to seize power, which was combined with the secession of Macedonia in order to be included in the planned "Federal People's Republic of Macedonia".
A reaction of the families living in villages where their children were at risk of having the same fate, was to leave for the cities or to send their children to the Children's Villages created by the Ministry of Welfare to accommodate these children. However, the communist version of events baptized the "Pedomazoma" as "Pedirosimo," and the Greek government's Children's Villages as "Katerga of Frederiki."

The introduction of the name of the then queen into the history of the events and the exaggeration of her role had two goals. Firstly, revenge through tarnishing her memory, because she was indeed a very important opponent of the communists and their plans in 1946-49. Secondly, the cunning attraction of some to the communist narrative of history due to their anti-monarchist political choices.

The author, with the help of dozens of cross-examined testimonies of Pedomazoma victims from Greece and the countries of their settlement, other participants in the events, as well as extensive research of the relevant literature from both sides, presents a comprehensive and objective picture of the Pedomazoma, the events that followed the settlement of the Greek children in the Paredasma, and their fate. The book concludes with a realistic picture of the operation of the Children's Villages, through the testimonies of people who lived in them, so that the reader can form their own opinion on whether for the young children up to 12 years old, they were schools for enclosed students or camps of monarchist praetorians.
