Description

"The present Natural History of the most common and familiar animals aims, on the one hand, to stimulate the observation of children and teach them through entertaining narratives how they can consider and study animals, and on the other hand, to indicate to them some basic principles of zoology. The author sought this material in foreign literature, and it will be considered fortunate if, through the description of each animal before the eyes of children, he manages to instill in them and in young girls at least a minimal love for observing and studying the most common natural things. Observation, properly stimulated in the minds of children, is the great teacher and the first step towards a love for learning and studying".
