The book by Roger Scruton "Fools, Charlatans, Agitators" is a devastating critique of modern leftist thought. Examining the authors of the New Left who dominated the philosophical public dialogue for over fifty years - Hobbesbaum, Thompson and Milliband; Sartre, Foucault and Deleuze; Adorno, Lukacs and Habermas; Gramsci, Badiou and Zizek - Scruton criticizes their ideas, after first attempting to explain their work.
