Stuck in traffic, Niki Clements sees from a distance someone she hoped never to see again in her life. To avoid him, she makes a U-turn and escapes. At least, that's what she believes. Because the next day, she is questioned about possible involvement in the murder of Damon Blundy, a controversial columnist.
Niki is unable to answer the questions posed by the inspectors. She doesn't know why the perpetrator used the knife in such a strange way or why he wrote NOT LESS DEAD on Blundy's wall. But she also can't explain why she made that fateful U-turn on the day of the murder without simultaneously revealing the secret that will destroy her life. Because, although Niki is not guilty of the murder, she is not entirely innocent either...
