"Euklidis Tsakalotos presents an impressively penetrating commentary on the development of neoliberal and, primarily, modernizing views and practices. His systematic critique focuses on the rhetoric of modernization, the lack of ethics, the decay of modernity, the obsession with the demands of neoliberalism, and, primarily, the absence of substantive theoretical analysis. Among the many advantages of the book, two related to Tsakalotos' categorical belief that there are possibilities for the Left's resurgence are worth noting. The first is the argument that the Left must (re)examine its values, assert them aggressively, and strengthen its ideological presence.
