Recognized today as the most "modern" and multidimensional German classical playwright and as the author of eight masterful stories, Heinrich von Kleist (Heinrich von Kleist) saw only one of his works on stage and his bad reputation followed him almost until the end of the 19th century, mainly due to his scandalous suicide.

Since the triumphant staging of "The Prince of Homburg" by Jean Villard in 1951, Kleist's works have increasingly taken the lead in the theatrical presentation of classical German works.
