Description
Who killed Sir Magnus Pye?
When that August evening, editor Susan Ryland began reading the manuscript of a detective novel featuring detective Atticus Pünd, she couldn't have suspected that she would have to write the ending herself...
Author Alan Conway was the biggest name in the publishing house, and everyone relied on the success of his new book. The ninth case of the famous detective involved the suspicious death of a housekeeper and the murder of her wealthy employer in a British province in 1955.
As she approached the conclusion, Susan realized that the last pages were missing. What was the point of reading a detective novel that didn't reveal the solution to the mystery? she wondered and tossed the manuscript aside. The answer came from the voice on the radio. The author of the book had been found dead. The handwritten suicide note was already on the desk of her publisher, Charles Clover.
From that moment, Susan knew that she would go from being a reader to becoming a detective...

Reviews
Quite interesting, with originality in the dual storyline and a good twist at the end! However, the way it presented the information didn't work well. It's worth reading, but I don't think it reaches the level of Christie, whom I consider an inspiration for this particular one!
Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful? What's all the hype about, honestly I don't understand! The book is okay to read comfortably, but that's about it! I even read that it's better than A. Christie. Maybe it's a mediocre copy! Personally, I found that it "dragged" while the editor was carrying out detective duties, and I lost interest until the end, which felt like falling asleep during a movie and waking up at the end in an episode of Poirot. :(
Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful?Excellent book, by far the best I have read in the crime genre. If you like this type, get it with your eyes closed!
Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful?By far the best mystery book I have ever read. Horowitz proves his intelligence by setting the bar very high in books of this genre. The only downside to such books is that once you read them, all the next ones will seem tasteless and colorless to you!
Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful?Good. It is easy to read. Obviously, I have read better.
