Description

Manson, through conversations with real meaning, drawn from pain and failure, entertaining stories, and unexpected, vitriolic humor, leads us out of the cycle of pointless effort, illusions, and self-pity. This manifesto is a refreshing slap in the face for all of us, so we can begin to lead fuller, more grounded lives.

In this definitive guide to self-improvement for the new generation, a superstar blogger reveals that the key to being happier is to stop trying to be "positive" all the time. Instead, we should become better at handling adversity.

For decades, we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, prosperous life. "To hell with positivity," says Mark Manson. "Let's be honest, sometimes things are crap and we have to live with it." Over the past years, Mark Manson, through his insanely popular blog, has been trying to correct the deceptive expectations we have about the world and ourselves. Now he brings his hard-earned wisdom to this book.

Manson argues - supported by academic research and incisive, caustic humor - that improving our lives depends not on our ability to make lemonade out of life's lemons, but on learning to digest the lemons better. People are flawed and limited - as he writes: "Not everyone can be extraordinary - there are winners and losers in society. It's neither fair nor our fault." Manson advises us to know our personal limitations and accept them. This, he says, is the real source of empowerment. Once we accept our fears, flaws, and uncertainties - once we stop running from and avoiding them and start confronting the painful truths - we can find the courage and confidence we desperately seek.

Excellent! The only self-improvement book I have read so far (and I have read quite a few) that is accurate, practical, well-structured, and honest. With tangible examples and a comprehensive reflection that applies not only to individual cases. It is literally a practical self-improvement guide that can and should be used by everyone!

Overrated, I would say. I think the catchy title of the book sells more, but it doesn't match its content. In the book, you don't learn "how not to give a damn," but the author narrates various personal stories and expresses his views on life and how to improve ourselves and our relationships. However, what he presents is already known to an adult who has even slightly dealt with themselves. Moreover, sometimes you don't even understand what he wants to convey, and the book turns into a rant, with endless and pointless descriptions of stories, resulting in me getting bored in many parts and simply reading it to finish it.

Finally, I was very bothered by the swearing.

The book, in general, is not interesting, nor do I agree with its opinions. Essentially, it is the author's personal subjective opinion on life matters. The author rambles and boasts to a great extent and confidently takes a stance on topics for which they have no expertise. Undoubtedly, I would not recommend it as a self-improvement and good life guide.

Very good book, it pulls you to read it and it is easy to read. Very good, it not only talks about how not to care about other people's opinions, but it also says many other nice things. Don't overthink it, just take it, it's worth it

Because I haven't read it in Greek but in English, maybe those who comment that the author can't write or has an aggressive tone are justified. In English, I didn't feel anything like that, maybe the translation hasn't been done well. Having read other self-improvement books, I have to say that I find this one perhaps the best, due to its different approach and non-toxic positivity that books of the same style adopt. It deals with everyday life from a perspective that we often don't think about. Surely someone can feel a little uncomfortable facing some truths that we avoid. I highly recommend it, I believe it can help many people see things from a different perspective. Honestly, I can't understand the negative reviews, but that's subjective. 5/5

Just catchy title. Bad writing, chaotic, just talking about himself, doesn't say anything important, people over 25 years old (let alone younger) have much better EQ than this "author". Also, just because someone has money and says, "Let me write a book with a catchy title to satisfy my ego and pretend to be famous," doesn't mean they are a real author. Those of you who generally read books in your life of various genres will understand that it's just nonsense that maybe sells to some people because it has a catchy title and some swear words and seems cool! haha. Those of you who have seriously dealt with psychology and sociology in your life will find it funny and basic in what it writes.
(Note: I have read it in English)

It was found randomly in my hands, as it was a gift. While at first it seemed interesting to me, I lost interest along the way. I don't consider it easy to read. I didn't even reach the middle. Maybe it didn't match my taste. I would suggest before buying it, go to a bookstore to read an excerpt and see if you like it.

I was really excited to read this book! It starts off nicely and strong and keeps your interest! At the beginning! But from the second chapter, it starts repeating the same things over and over again with different examples, and the title has no relevance to what it actually says! It encourages the reader to be the exact opposite of what the title suggests! It tells you how to be right and not to be... in short, I felt like this book was suppressing rather than helping you with something... some say it speaks bluntly, but it's more like someone talking to you with a condescending tone... I got tired of finishing it, and I wouldn't recommend it, to be honest...

I have read many psychology books, I wouldn't say it's one of the best I have studied, but I would say I liked it quite a bit. Especially some things were so well expressed that it has stayed in my mind until now.

Awesome book! If you expect literature as art with beautiful words to caress your ears, etc. it's not for you. It speaks rawly. The description it makes through the experiences of its life identifies human nature and the difficulties we all have in common in a very deep content and gives you very interesting perspectives!!! Not for not caring, but exactly the opposite! It's a must! 5/5

P.S. - The negative comments I saw.. probably offended them or they couldn't accept the aspects of their character when they identified with it :D <3

The same old, same old. The self-help genre and the 100 books that come out are a bit toxic and they all say the same thing just to make money. We didn't need this book to understand that

I read it in 3 days and honestly, nothing stayed in my mind. I didn't read anything that I didn't already know, it had nothing substantial to offer me except for ramblings from a guy who seems to just throw out theories. Also, the title of the book has no relation to what the book actually writes.

Already from the 10th page, it makes you realize how many wrong standards you follow. It makes you doubt, or at least think about the things you took for granted all your life. The only thing you need is to dedicate time without biases, to accept what it says.

This book is an excellent reason to reconsider many things that hold you back in your development. In a very difficult period of my life, both personally and professionally, it helped me, or rather encouraged me, to see the truth that I was leaving behind. I highly recommend reading it! 5 stars!!!

I wouldn't categorize this book so much in the typical 'self-help' category as it resembles more of a guide that reminds you what is most important for each reader. The author uses stories of individuals who lived unconventionally during their times and provide material for reflection. He writes completely impartially, giving a broad perspective to contemplate, reinforcing the reader's personal choices. A great companion for open-minded individuals and a great starting point for those ready to burst the bubble they grew up in. I only needed to reach one-third of the book to decide to buy three more copies and give them as gifts to friends and family.

Good book overall.... But the author is a bit dogmatic and presents it in a peculiar way to make you think and reconsider your thoughts, "am I wrong?" However, everyone can have their own opinion and support it. But you should always be open to new perspectives, whether you reject or accept them. Apart from that, it is intelligent and helps you, as I mentioned earlier, to add some new values to your way of thinking.

Nice.. I finished it in one day.. It has some very nice points that make you reconsider your perspective on life.. Also, in the parts where some people are offended because of the "raw" language it uses, I laughed a lot. I think it's necessary to talk about the raw side of things. Also, the book entertains me in this way.. I take away one star because it confused me in several parts by recycling the topic.. It's definitely worth buying.. and another one because it created more existential issues for me than I already had, while I was expecting it to help me relax..

I haven't finished it yet, so far I have only read half of it. It's not a bad book, but I would say it's overrated. I have the translated version, which may also play a role because in some parts it doesn't make sense. However, it does have some very good stories and some others not so much.
