Description

This is an attempt to historically approach a little-known or even unknown history, in its true dimensions, which took place in February and March 1948 during the Greek Civil War. The March of the Unarmed Rumeli, which they called "Heroic March", the same people who years later called it "Disastrous Event". The testimonies of the survivors, who had a direct (recruited, armed escorts, opponents, eyewitnesses) or indirect relationship with the events, hold a significant value in the book (40% of the material) and reflect the experiences of those who were the "protagonists" of the events. In this way, the reader can draw their own conclusions. The preserved valuable testimonies, combined with existing written sources, demonstrate exceptional reliability and come to shed light on significant gaps and "gray" events after 65 years, ultimately inscribing the history of the March of the Unarmed Rumeli within its historical and social context.

Review this product
  • An objective description of the events, thoroughly documented and with the help of many maps and photographs of the area, a historical book that I highly recommend to those interested in the period to which it refers (February - March 1948)
