Description

This edition was created on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition organized by the National Bank Cultural Foundation, the National Opera, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, and the National Library of Greece at the exhibition space of the National Library at SNFCC (February 4, 2018 - March 10, 2018). This volume presents the artistic work of the great Greek set designer Stefanos Lazaridis, who, based in London, collaborated with the most important opera scenes in Europe.

The material of this volume comes from the Stefanos Lazaridis Archive, which belongs to ELIA-MIET, and covers the most important milestones of his forty-year creative career. It includes painting studies of sets and costume designs - where the influence of his apprenticeship alongside the also international Nikolaos Georgiadis is evident - works of mixed technique and collage, photographs of three-dimensional models, digital models, photographs from performances and rehearsals.

The texts presented, written by collaborators and friends of Lazaridis, shed light on his personality and working methods, while the curator of the exhibition, A. Volanakis, also a collaborator of his, highlights the basic set design principles of his work.
