In this book, sixteen studies written during a sixteen-year period, from 1990 to 2006, are collected in an edited, revised, or enriched form. Most of these studies were published during the same period. The common axis of the sixteen studies, which also justifies the title of the book, is the examination of the work of poets or the exploration of poetic phenomena that developed from the emergence of modernism in Greek poetry until the poetic production of our days. Specifically, aspects of the poetic work of Giorgos Seferis, Yiannis Ritsos, Takis Sinopoulos, Manolis Anagnostakis, Markos Meskos, Prodomos Markoglou, Alexis Traianos, Antonis Fostiropoulos, Manolis Pratikakis, Frangiski Abatzopoulou, Andeia Frantzi, Nasos Vagenas, and Haris Vlavianos are examined in order. As for the poetic phenomena, the recitation or oral reading of poetry, especially during the modernist period, satire in the work of post-war poetic generations, poetic references to the islands of the Aegean as a place of contrast between the poetic generation of 1930 and post-war poetry, and the reintroduction of traditional metric patterns in the era of free verse poetry are explored.
