Description

What is happening in the Darnley residence? Through the last door of the attic, which is open, a strange, captivating light can be seen, illuminating the white porcelain knobs on the other three doors. Some hear mysterious footsteps... Everyone believes the room is haunted by the spirit of Eleanor Darnley, who tragically died there years ago.

The Latimers do not hesitate to move into the Darnley house. Alice Latimer, a medium, seeks to communicate with Eleanor's spirit, which seems to thirst for revenge. Her husband, Patrick Latimer, agrees to spend a night in the room to prove it is not haunted.
The door closes behind him and is sealed with wax. But when it opens, the body of another man is found there.
The seals are intact; the door has not been tampered with. Where is Patrick? To whom does the body lying on the floor belong?

A man is fatally shot in the neighboring White house. The killer seems to have escaped, yet the untouched snow around leaves no doubt...
Inspector Drew takes on the task of solving the mystery. Who are the perpetrators? How did they plan their attacks? And how is the legend of the magician Houdini connected to this inexplicable story?

Paul Halter has been described as the "successor to John Dickson Carr," who is considered the master of the locked room mystery.

Nice, simple, without any additional tiring details. A bit boring in the middle. Strong at the end!!
