The collective volume "'Auschwitz - The Event and Its Memory" is the unique effort in Greek society of a multifaceted reflection on a historically boundary event, such as the systematically organized extermination of an entire people by a state authority, which is condensed in the keyword "'Auschwitz".
For decades, silence was so loud, as if it did not disappear, through the implementation of the so-called "final solution", a thriving Jewish community of Thessaloniki for centuries, as if there were not thousands of our fellow citizens who lost their lives in the crematoria of Nazism.
This is an interdisciplinary investigation of how this boundary event was devalued or mythologized, an endeavor without omissions or relativizations, under the prism of the present.
