A CASE FOR KARIN MILLER
EAST BERLIN, 1975
When Lieutenant Karin Miller is called to investigate the murder of a teenager whose body was found in the dead zone surrounding the Berlin Wall, she thinks she has seen this play before. But as soon as she arrives at the crime scene, she realizes that this case is unlike any other. It seems that the girl was trying to escape - not from East to West Germany, but the other way around - and, as it will be revealed, the murder scene was staged.
Miller is a member of the People's Police, but in a regime like that of East Germany, her power is limited. The Stasi officers ask her to uncover the identity of the murdered girl, but along the way, they remove her from the case, claiming that she has exceeded her jurisdiction. However, she is undeterred. She continues her investigation and is led down dangerous paths and painful truths.
