The problematic regarding the concept of evaluating the offered therapeutic approaches as well as the methodology is an important element of this book.

This study focuses on describing the detoxification programs in the countries of the European Union (mainly those with "developed" healthcare systems) as well as in our country. Our main goal was to focus on the concept of evaluating the effectiveness of existing therapeutic approaches. The evaluation of the effectiveness of social/psychological programs has gained the interest of researchers worldwide in the last twenty years. A significant number of studies have been conducted and published in relevant scientific journals worldwide, although the methodology used for data collection and analysis was inadequate.

One of the main motivations for the collective writing of this work was the recent report of the "European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction," which among other things, states that substance use is at high levels and that therapeutic programs need to be "adapted" to address new synthetic substances.
