In times of crisis, one thinks of various strange things; things that they do not think of in normal conditions. Crisis is a terrible thing, and you think of the troubles it has brought; and you discover the "ghosts of History" - and if you are also old enough, your mind goes to the old "ghosts of History" that you experienced, just like you experience the current ones, but at a different age; you bring those back in front of you.

Because they seem similar or because you find parallels? Certainly not! Neither one nor the other! It's just that you feel similar things: some fear; if the country goes bankrupt, this fear is different from the other one, of the Occupation and the persecutions.

So, as today I am a mature person, ready to fall from the tree, a historian and my perspective on things can only be that of a historian, and as often my mind goes back to the everyday life of my childhood, I thought, almost two years ago now, to write some pieces that would be published in a newspaper and would include what I saw and learned with the perspective of today's historian.

I proposed it to Stratis Bournazos, for the Supplements of Avgi; more for the Supplements than for Avgi. He liked the idea and we agreed that the publication would take place on the last Sunday of every month. We started on November 29, 2015.
