[...] Williams incorporated America itself, its reflections and idiosyncrasies, into his poetry. Towards his fellow citizens, the poet maintained an attitude of decency and love. He used them as living proof of the oppressive environment, like the dramatic totems carved by society itself. Flexible with the good and the bad, with lyricism and conciseness, the poet created the great school that bore his own name.
For him, the creation of style and the excellent rendition encompass the precise meaning of poetry, not the individual verses that "move" with the first reading. Because "good or apt verses" can be written by non-poets. Poetry, however, above all, is an instrument that must press all its keys, test its endurance, in order to speak the ultimate truth.
