Owner of the Logitech Z623 for about 10+ years, having countless hours of music behind them and even using them for small parties, until unfortunately one day our right speaker stopped working.
So, I started researching for a new setup, maybe something better.
After a lot of searching, I realized that in this price range, I wouldn't find anything more worthy with the same characteristics (2.1 system, sufficient watts).
Entering the process of buying the same speakers, I discovered the Logitech Z625, which on one hand is a newer system, but on the other hand, apart from some aesthetic changes and the optical fiber output, they don't have any other differences.
Regarding the psychological aspect, I go for the "new".
The speakers are connected with an aux to a computer with a pretty good motherboard (unfortunately, it doesn't have an optical fiber port, so I can't give an opinion, but surely the quality will be slightly better).
Unfortunately, knowing the performance of the Z623, I was a bit disappointed!
When the volume of the speakers exceeds about 70%, a distorted unpleasant experience begins as the sound starts to get muffled, also hearing some strange sounds from the speakers as if the membrane has been torn, something that happened with the Z623 above 80% and in a lower percentage.
Of course, on the other hand, with the Z623, there were constantly "parasites" heard when adjusting the sound, which currently doesn't happen with the Z625.
Putting aside the comparison between the two, the sound system is so powerful that at 60% volume and with the bass set below 50%, everything in the room rattles, from the windows to the closet doors.
The experience of listening to music or watching a movie is truly amazing.
The overall sound quality may not be perfect, but it is undoubtedly decent.
Preferably, the bass should be set below 50% to avoid distortion and a muffled sound.
I won't go into details like the bass being more elevated, distorting the mid frequencies, etc. (which is true) because in my opinion, this product is aimed at a wide audience and not someone with an experienced ear who distinguishes everything.
It is the best value for money in this price range for what it offers!
My final conclusions are as follows:
POSITIVES:
- Incredibly powerful sound system! (400W, 200WRMS)
- Extremely powerful bass.
- Quite good sound quality.
- Great value for money for what it offers.
NEGATIVES:
- Significant distortion of sound at volumes above 70%.
- Significant alteration of sound with bass set above 50%.
In my opinion, the best and most economical choice is the Z623 if there is no need for optical fiber.
There is no competition with the same characteristics and in the same price range!
