The texts of this collection are published on the occasion of the 100 years since the victory of the October Revolution. They aim to shed light on various historical aspects of the theoretical and practical actions of the Bolsheviks and have been selected with the criterion of bringing the reader into contact with this relatively lesser-known aspect of the Bolshevik struggle - their militant experience.

As in every revolution, the October Revolution also shaped a revolutionary ideology and revolutionary decisions, as well as a force of determined individuals willing to fight in every way and at any cost for its success. The Bolshevik Party managed, in all the pre-revolutionary years, to function as a revolutionary party, with the corresponding principles of organization and operation, as well as the required level of combat capability. This combat capability allowed it to forge revolutionary bonds with the struggling working-class and popular forces, and not to succumb to the practical difficulties it faced in its actions (economic, state, and extrajudicial violence). It was a fighting party.
