Description
Can love, given perhaps in the wrong way, make her feel like she's drowning? Can school bullying and a series of tragic events, with death being the climax, lead her to guilt, panic attacks, and ultimately depression?
"I'm afraid that for some things it's too late. In the end, life is a river. It flows, it moves on, and if you don't follow it, you're left behind alone. It doesn't turn back to find you." "You're speaking my words, Lena. Life is like a river and the river can sometimes become a torrent. Even then, though, it's better to let it take us further. If we stay still, we risk becoming a swamp. So, keep moving forward!"
That night, Lena decided to try, to search and find the river and follow it. If she didn't succeed, she would simply be lost... Even that, though, might be better than becoming a swamp. Will her effort to find her happiness make it more accessible to her? Once freed from panic attacks, the cruelty of depression, and liberated from her demons, will she be able to love herself as well as others and live a normal life?

Reviews
Lately, I have been looking for light books that are taken from everyday life and from life itself. Novels that would make you think, puzzle you, and touch on social issues. "I Will Make the Bird Happy" was exactly what I needed during this period. It is a book that deals with the journey of a girl after the death of her boyfriend on their wedding day. Joy turns into sorrow. The dream becomes a nightmare that haunts Lena's nights. The girl falls into depression and tries (sometimes less and sometimes more) to overcome the event. Along her way, she will meet Nikiforos, who deeply loves her and wants to help her. However, Lena does not seem particularly willing to start a new relationship with him. After these events, many people will be by Lena's side to support her. But will Lena allow them to approach her? The protagonist is the one who will teach readers that depression cannot be overcome only with medication and psychologists. It takes time! Along with Lena's story, other stories unfold, such as the story of a teenage girl who almost falls victim to exploitation. Many unexpected events happen from there on, and the book invites readers to discover them.
The narration and style of the book are particularly simple. The author presents us with all the fluctuations of Lena's psychology in a unique way, provides us with important information for the development of the book, enriches our knowledge with significant elements about the history of Crete and Nafplio, and fills our hearts with beautiful images thanks to her beautiful descriptions. "I Will Make the Bird Happy" praises love, friendship, and the value of friendship, but among these, it also highlights the optimism we should have when we are willing to do everything to achieve our goals. Will Lena manage to regain balance in her soul and heart, or will she choose to live isolated so as not to hurt others "because of her"?
