Description

This book is a first attempt to compile some of the elements that have emerged so far from on-site research in Agia Paraskevi-Kerasovo Konitsis, regarding the representation of the Kerasovitissa Mana by the residents themselves, as well as from the analysis of the already recorded traditional songs in the specific area.

The living conditions in the mountainous regions were certainly more unfavorable than life in the plains. Apart from the charm of the mountains, their lives were closely connected to the relentless struggle for survival. connected to deprivation, poverty, which, however, did not reach despair. The bitterness, the anguish of the loss of their own were experienced by the Kerasovitissa mothers during the years of the Occupation. They fought side by side with their sons and were proud of the same, mother and son, for the struggle for freedom. Other mothers experienced exile.

My mother lamented alone in the room with pain... she would stop and say: "... and my husband, and he hasn't come yettt, ohhh my Spiro", and I would listen from below and cry. The strong mother shouted from below: "My daughter-in-law, you cry your pain..." And she cried and shouted "Ohhh Spiro, Spiro..." "Oh mother," I would say to her, "why are you shouting?" "To make the child hear me and come back." (M.B., 1943)
