Serving my grieving brothers in the sacred space of the First Cemetery of Athens, I deemed it necessary to engage in recording the historical elements related to its creation and to present to the reader detailed information about the Holy Temples and funerary monuments that adorn this sacred place of silence.

In the first part, among other things, historical documents dating back to the reign of King Otto, maps of the time, Encyclicals of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, and references related to its creation and expansion up to its present form are presented.

In the second part, the Holy Temples that exist in the Cemetery are presented, along with the history of the construction of the Holy Temple of Agioi Theodoroi, its architecture, its painting and sculptural decoration, and brief references to the Holy Temple of Agios Lazaros and the Holy Temple of Agios Karolos of the Roman Catholics.

In the third part, the types of funerary monuments and great creators-artists are mentioned, whose works are distinguished for their unparalleled beauty.

Finally, in the fourth and last part, there is a photographic appendix with notable monuments mainly located in the older sections of the Cemetery. [...]
