Description

Euripides is the third of the trio of great poets of ancient Greek dramatic poetry. He is characterized as a realistic writer, as he portrays the characters of his works as they are in reality, and as a "philosopher on stage" because he philosophically addresses the themes he explores.
From his rich body of work, we have preserved a "satyr play," the "Cyclops," and eighteen tragedies: "Alcestis," "Andromache," "Medea," "Heracleidae," "Hippolytus," "Hecuba," "The Suppliants," "Heracles Mad," "Troades," "Iphigenia in Tauris," "Electra," "Helen," "Ion," "Phoenician Women," "Orestes," "Bacchae," "Iphigenia at Aulis," "Rhesus."

The complete editing of the work was done under the supervision of the philologist Th. G. Mavropoulos.
Each volume includes: a preface by the publisher Konstantinos Zitros, an introduction by the author to ancient Greek dramatic poetry and the poet, the ancient Greek text, its translation, philological comments on the work, analysis of the work, topics - questions for further processing of the text, an anthology of the work, bibliography related to the work, and an index of terms and names.
