In this work, three chapters from the book Spiritual Reformers in the 16th & 17th Centuries by Rufus M. Jones, published in 1914, are presented. Rufus M. Jones (1863-1948) was an American Quaker author and philosophy professor at Haverford College. In this particular book, he studies the influence of certain individuals on the Reformation movement of the 16th-17th centuries.

The common element among these individuals is their emphasis on the inner dimension of spirituality. According to Rufus M. Jones, they were often derogatorily referred to as "Spirituals" by their opponents, while they themselves believed they had been called from above to carry out a divine-inspired "Reformation". Therefore, the author aptly refers to them as "Spiritual Reformers" and considers them to have been a significant parallel current within the broader Reformation movement.
