Because its author, Valmiki, does not deal with divine law abstractly, but shows through the actions of his heroes how it can be applied in the difficulties of life, as Prince Rama did. From a more internal perspective, Ramayana is an allegorical drama of the evolution of the soul: its descent into matter, its trials in this world, and its final return to its original divine state."
