Fruit of collective care and work, "Sources of Legal History" gather fundamental sources of the history of institutions and law, covering, as representatively as possible, an exceptionally extensive chronological framework, from ancient Greece to Rome, Byzantium, Venetian rule, Ottoman rule, and up to the Decree of the Regency of February 23rd/March 7th, 1835. The selected texts come from the entire spectrum of sources used by the legal historian - legislative, administrative, literary, historiographical, epigraphic, papyrological - and encompass all aspects of the establishment, enactment, and application of legal rules: legislation, case law, legal theory, and practice. The structure of the volume follows the doctrinal distinction between public, private, and procedural law, facilitating the comparative study of legal solutions that were adopted in the same critical problems of political and institutional organization of human life, in very different times and societies.
