Description
The red mark that Argiro has on her body from birth is an omen that will determine her path in life, foreshadowing her steps. From the destruction of Smyrna and the loss of her parents, she will find herself in Thessaloniki and experience the refugee life, only to end up in a brothel in Athens. Her acquaintance with Count Fabien de Fontenay will lead her to interwar Paris, where she will become the muse of all the great artists of the time: Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Andre Breton, Henry Miller. Even the fiery James Joyce will succumb to her charm. She will then follow post-war New York, where Argiro, as a famous gallery owner, will showcase the artists who will mark the second half of the twentieth century.
The red mark will continue to send her messages. An invitation to an inauguration, a lost photograph, an unexpected encounter, and Argiro will come face to face with pieces of her existence that she herself was unaware of.
