Description

This collection of missionary studies by the Most Blessed Archbishop of Albania is an editorial event, as readers have the opportunity, thanks to this concise work, to understand ecclesiologically the worldwide dissemination of the truth of the Gospel through the writings of a hierarch who dedicated a large part of his life to this purpose, confirming in his person as few others the New Testament's "you will be my witnesses". The author highlights the deeper theological significance of mission, which is connected to the very nature of the Church: the Church must be missionary, opening its arms to non-members by proclaiming the word of the Gospel, thus fulfilling our Lord's command: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19).

The work is divided into two parts. The first is dedicated to the missionary activity of the desert monks and the early Christians, as well as to the glorious era of the Christianization of Eastern Europe thanks to the coordinated and organized missions of the Byzantine Empire. The second part extensively presents the previously unknown Orthodox missions of recent times in China, Japan, and Alaska. The breadth of the information provided and the rich bibliography referred to by the author make this work not only accessible to the general public but also an essential handbook for every scientific researcher.
