In March 2017, it will be 60 years since the Treaty of Rome and the establishment of the European Economic Community, which was the precursor to the European Union as we know it today. No matter how many celebrations take place for the anniversary, they cannot hide today's reality: their grand plan is in crisis - the cracks in the EU structure are evident and deep, both economically and politically.

Today, a Europe that wanted to be seen as the Land of Promise for all populations within and around it, has reached the point of not only imposing barbaric austerity and poverty on its peoples, but also erecting barriers against refugees, being responsible for turning the Mediterranean into a watery grave for thousands of souls, and cultivating racist terror and Islamophobia.

The EU in crisis reveals its true character as an institution rooted in the needs of capitalism. The texts that make up this book show that the anti-capitalist perspective was and is more realistic for analyzing the course of the European Union and equipping labor resistance to its attacks.
