The first functional television!

The first functional television!

THE INVENTOR OF TELEVISION HATES TELEVISION!!

Imagine contributing to the creation of one of the most revolutionary inventions in history and being like "OK cool, I did it because I can, but GET IT AWAY FROM ME!" Philo Taylor Farnsworth, you see, invented the first fully electronic television system in the late 1920s!!! (Amazing, we have a grandmother in my village, Mrs. Kalliopi, who is exactly the same age!!)

In general, Philo is a super awesome scientist and inventor, we will remember him forever, he has 169 PATENTS in his resume, he has danced 265 zeibekika, he is the Angela Dimitriou of inventors, etc.

However, it is said that he said the following harsh words to his son about television: "There is nothing inside it that is worth it, and you will not find it in this household, nor do I want it in our intellectual diet!" He probably had other intentions for his invention and it turned out differently in the end!

By the way, what did people think about television when it first came out? When television first came out on the market, it was considered a luxury for a few because it was VERY EXPENSIVE, so in essence it has not even been 50 years since it has been part of the average person's life!! NOT EVEN FIFTY YEARS, CAN YOU IMAGINE THE CULTURAL CHANGES WE HAVE EXPERIENCED??

Also, there was a comparison with cinema and people were like "Okay, now we will go from the big screens of cinema to a small box that will be the same as the radio but with pictures?" - WHAT COMPARISON, DUDE?? CAN YOU WATCH A MOVIE IN THE CINEMA IN YOUR UNDERWEAR??
In general, although television has changed the world to the same extent as the internet (like we pressed a button on the moon and you could watch it from your couch), I still feel today that television has the stigma of being "a dumb box that plays nonsense".

Nevertheless, I truly believe that it can be a tremendous tool with the right management. Now I feel like watching my documentary and learning, now I will watch the news to know what is happening in the world (with my judgment and filters), now I will watch my nonsense to relax! Because even Glykatzi Arveler watches a Kainourgiou, she can't help it, and that's what she needs!

The most CONVENIENT feature of television that makes it so addictive despite all the criticism, is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHOOSE WHAT TO WATCH (a process that we all know can consume your life). It may be a double-edged sword because you will inevitably watch whatever is served to you, but how refreshing it is sometimes for someone else to choose for you! (I would like the same for food, please).

What is your opinion on television? What would you do differently in terms of content if you could magically control all the channels in the world?
