Buying Guide for Body Cream

(October 2023)

A body cream can make a difference!

In general, body creams moisturize and soothe the skin as they contain moisturizing ingredients, and certainly our whole body needs care and hydration. How many times after a hot bath have you felt the sensation of "tightness" in your skin and dryness? It is exactly the moment when you need this coveted body cream, the one that suits your needs, of course! And why is it important? Here's why…

  • Moisturizes and nourishes the skin

  • Makes the skin glow

  • Smells wonderful

What texture should I choose?

Depending on your skin and its needs, you can find what suits you best. Let's take a look at the textures and their differences!

Cream

The body cream has a rich composition and is oilier than a lotion. It moisturizes the skin more deeply and creates a protective oily film, which is why it takes a little time to absorb completely. It is ideal for very dry skin as it provides intensive hydration and nourishment.

Lotion or Emulsion

The moisturizing lotion or emulsion resembles the cream but has a lighter texture. It spreads easily on the skin, absorbs faster than the cream, and leaves a feeling of cleanliness and freshness. It is ideal for normal, oily, sensitive, and dry skin.

Balm

By balm, we mean the balm. Essentially, these are body creams with a different composition that contain plenty of plant oils and beneficial vitamins that can enhance skin health. Additionally, balms contain a generous amount of beeswax, more than body butters, and are ideal for very dry skin as they provide intensive hydration.

Butter

Body butter is a mixture of natural butters and oils, such as cocoa butter or shea butter. Its composition contains beeswax, less than balms, and is thicker and more concentrated than body cream. Body butter is often better for dry, cracked, or sensitive skin.

Gel

Body gel has an even thinner texture than the emulsion and is more refreshing. It absorbs very quickly and leaves a feeling of freshness. It usually contains aloe, which is soothing, or hyaluronic acid, which is moisturizing. We recommend it for normal skin.

Mousse

The mousse texture is both thinner and softer. It has a finer texture than cream, absorbs easily, contains moisturizing ingredients, and is recommended for normal and sensitive skin.

Buying Guide for Body Cream

Which ingredient suits me?

Depending on the needs of your skin, you can choose creams with ingredients that can better match your skin and see the difference you want immediately. The most popular ones are:

  • Urea: An ingredient that already exists in our body and is a natural byproduct of protein metabolism in our liver. Synthetic urea is produced for use in cosmetic products for skin care. It has the property of absorbing moisture from the environment and retaining it, making the skin softer and smoother. You can also use it to treat dry areas of the skin, such as heels, calluses, and cracked hands.

  • Aloe: One of the plants whose composition in water is up to 96%. Extremely beneficial for the skin, as it contains minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and vitamins A, C, and E. It has moisturizing and healing properties, soothes and calms the skin, and restores elasticity.

  • Donkey Milk: Yes, the famous one used by Cleopatra for her bath, but also by Hippocrates for the treatment of diseases! It contains vitamins B complex, D, E, and A, fatty acids, and magnesium. It is rich in nourishing and rejuvenating properties for the skin. It softens and moisturizes the skin and provides deep nourishment.

  • Hyaluronic Acid: Another ingredient that exists in our body, which is one of the main glycosaminoglycans of the skin. It is a hygroscopic ingredient that can retain up to 1,000 times its weight in water. It deeply moisturizes the skin, helps enhance the natural moisture of the skin, keeping the skin healthy and radiant.
Extra Tip! Make sure your skin is relatively damp to apply the cream with hyaluronic acid that you have chosen, as it binds moisture. Otherwise, you will have the opposite result, which we definitely don't want!

    It is worth remembering that...

    • The choice of a body cream depends on several factors, such as skin type, the needs of the skin according to the season and age.

    • Heavier and greasier textures help moisturize areas such as elbows and feet where the skin is drier.

    • In the summer, we recommend lighter textures such as body gel and lotion, while in the winter we use heavier textures such as butter or cream.

    • If you have any issues with your skin, visiting a dermatologist is the only sure and safe solution.

    Tips to be a pro!

    • Apply a generous amount to see your skin hydrated, but don't empty the container!

    • Apply product all over your body, don't forget your hands, elbows, and heels.

    • Apply the cream or whatever texture you choose immediately after you get out of the shower and you'll see a difference in your skin right away.
