Romantic book recommendations

I think that from time to time we all want a sweet and light book, to cuddle with on the couch and relax.

Specifically, I am looking for such readings after finishing something heavy, so that I don't get emotionally overwhelmed and my mood improves.

So let's see three book suggestions, which are like watching a romantic comedy on TV:

(1) "The Flatshare" by Beth O'Leary, from Patakis Publishing

Tiffy and Leon share the same apartment and the same bed.
Tiffy and Leon have never met...
Everyone around them finds it crazy, but it's still a very good solution. Tiffy urgently needs to find a cheap house and spends all day at the office. Leon works at night and needs the money.

However, due to the existence of paranoid ex-partners, demanding clients at work, unjustly imprisoned siblings, and the fact that they have never, of course, met, they will be surprised to discover that you can only find the real home when you stop following the rules...

Two protagonists, two perspectives. Tiffy and Leon live in the same apartment, share the same bed, but have never met

This happens because they have completely opposite work schedules, and so this cohabitation seemed ideal. Their only communication was through post-its, which amused me in reading and I consider it was an original idea.

However, as you can imagine, at some point the circumstances changed, and they met realizing that they had wasted so much time following the rules.

I can confidently say that I enjoyed reading this book, and I really liked that we saw two different sides each time. The story flowed beautifully, many times it made me laugh but also made me say a "aww" inside.

(2) People who love Emily Henry's books, from Dioptra Publications

Άνθρωποι που Αγαπούν τα Βιβλία

A summer. Two sworn enemies. And a twist they never imagined.

Nora Stevens' life is books. Having read many, she has come to the conclusion that she is by no means the classic heroine we encounter in novels. She is not unexpectedly brave, nor the girl everyone dreams of having, and certainly not sweet, innocent, and romantic. In reality, the only people who see her as a heroine are her author clients, with whom she closes incredible deals, and her little sister Libby, who adores her. For her sake, she agrees to spend their summer vacation in Sansain Falls, North Carolina.

Libby has dreams for this trip. Mainly, she believes that Nora should start behaving a little more carefree... more romantically. However, instead of picnics in the countryside or chance encounters with a charming country doctor or even flirting with the local pub bartender, Nora keeps meeting Charlie Lastra, a bookworm, ambitious, and somewhat eccentric book curator. At first glance, one would say it's a beautiful coincidence. Only these two have met many times in the past, without any spark between them.

You see, Nora is not the ideal fictional heroine and Charlie is definitely not the classic hero we encounter in books. But as they constantly collide with each other - thanks to a series of random coincidences - they discover that sometimes the image we have of ourselves is nothing more than a well-crafted story.

"Even when you're on the last page of a book and you think you know everything... the story can find a way to surprise you."

Usually in romantic novels we see a man who is involved with an emotionally inaccessible, workaholic, doll-like girl, and due to some coincidence he goes to the countryside, where he meets the sweet girl next door and realizes what he has been missing all this time. So Nora belongs to the first category of girls. Workaholic? Check. Beautiful? Check. Emotionally inaccessible? Check. And the list goes on.

Her life is books. She is an agent, she loves her job but she loves her sister Libby even more. So when Libby asks her to take a break for a vacation in Sansain Folls, she can't refuse. However, there, she will constantly run into Charlie, a [handsome I imagine] book curator who she definitely doesn't like [we like those things]. I won't continue, you know how these things end!

Initially, I found it very nice that the heroine is not the "typical" girl we meet in romantic novels, it is interesting to see something different. Also, although a light book, it talked about loss, family, life choices, etc., something that for me upgrades it and gives it depth. Of course, I enjoyed the love story as anything that involves characters constantly teasing each other with sarcasm and humor is my weakness!

Now, on to the practical side, the book had small chapters and was not tiring at all. It was one of those that make you feel like you're watching a movie, so it relaxes you.

Just what you need for cuddling. A book about books, what else do you want?;

(3) "Dead Romantics" by Ashley Poston, published by Psychogios Editions

Οι Νεκροί Ρομαντικοί
from 12,39 €

Florence is a "ghostwriter," as she writes books on behalf of a famous elderly romance writer, although she no longer believes in it. Her life is already going from bad to worse, with the cherry on top being that her new *tall and unbelievably handsome* editor doesn't give her an extension for the delivery of her book. Perfect, right? Oh, and another important thing about the story: Florence sees ghosts! If you don't find this original, then I don't know what to say. Suddenly, she returns to her childhood home for her father's funeral when the doorbell rings. And who is it? The new editor. As a ghost! Well, this will go well…

I found the author's idea of creating a protagonist who falls in love with a ghost very clever. I haven't read anything similar before, and it seemed very original to me! Overall, your book conveyed a very pleasant feeling.

It flowed nicely, had doses of humor, clever dialogues, references to books and authors, was a bit macabre but at the same time full of optimism, and it definitely kept your interest. I believe it would also make a great movie, so give it a read.

After all, we love original books!
