Book Review: The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot, Marianne Cronin!

One of the most touching books I have read.

I love happy books, funny books, detective books, etc., but my greatest weakness is for books that manage to touch me deeply, making me reach out and grab the package of tissues.

So, because I know that many of you want to cry with your books, I have an ideal suggestion for you.

"The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot by Marianne Cronin from Patakis Editions"

Τα Εκατό Χρόνια της Λέννι και της Μάργκο

Lenny, 17 years old & Margot, 83. What could a teenager have in common with an elderly woman?

The fact that they are both in the hospital in the wing with incurable diseases, and they are going to die. Neither of them will reach 100, but by adding their ages, they reach 100! In order to leave their mark, they decide to create 100 paintings, one for each memory of their lives.

So life will go on, even when they are gone.

"- Do you know that the stars we see most clearly are already dead?" - That's depressing. - No. […] They have been gone for who knows how long, but we can still see them. They continue to live."

How excited I am when a book pleasantly surprises me.

I expected to like this one, but I didn't expect to like it so much! Initially, I thought that due to the subject it would be heavy and difficult, but it was anything but.

The writing was so fresh, full of cynicism and humor, that whenever I sat down to read, I enjoyed every page

Nevertheless, I won't hide from you that in the end a tear rolled down because it was very touching. The chapters were short, and each one was about a memory of Lenny or Margot [mostly Margot since she was older], allowing us to see their lives and whether we wanted to or not to connect with them. I loved Margot's stories, I loved Lenny's character, I loved the conversations with the nurses and the priest, I loved the idea behind this book, and overall I loved the book.

Overall, this year, although I have read many books, few are the ones that I constantly think about, and that I know I will recommend blindly.

This one is one of them.

A story about a friendship without age limits, about loss, about love, life, and death. I don't care if 5 stars are too many, I will give them generously!
