The correct order to apply make-up
The proper foundation in makeup is the alpha and omega of your routine. No matter what makeup you want to do, whatever trend you want to follow, it looks much more beautiful on a properly prepared skin, moisturized and clean. This determines not only how long your makeup will last, but also how your skin will be after you remove it.
First things first!
- Cleansing: Before applying any product, cleansing is necessary. A cleanser suitable for your skin type will remove dirt and sebum, leaving the canvas ready to receive the products you will choose afterwards.
- Exfoliation: Exfoliating the skin is one of the most important things to do, especially before applying makeup. However, it is recommended to do it only twice a week, in order not to disrupt the skin barrier. This is enough for your skin to be healthy and the barrier to function properly.
- Moisturizing: For a smooth and flawless base, moisturizer is the key. It is also important to choose the moisturizer according to the needs and type of your skin, as not all products are suitable for all skin types.
- Primer: Primer is the last step before applying makeup and ensures longevity, stability, and a uniform result. The choice of the product should be made again based on the needs of your skin and its type.
Now, the basics!
- Color Corrector: Using a color corrector is optional, it should be done immediately after your skincare routine. This will smooth out your skin and help the product last longer.
- Foundation: The foundation acts as a canvas on which you will build the rest of your makeup. Choose a formula that will enhance your skin's type and tone - this will help you properly adjust the other products.
- Concealer: Concealer should always be applied after foundation to avoid using more than necessary and to prevent your skin from looking cakey. #cakey
- Setting spray or powder: You can use one, both, or none, but these two products are designed to help your makeup last longer and look better as the day goes on - apply them shortly before leaving the house.
Now you're ready for the rest of your makeup routine! Blush, Highlighter, Bronzer, Contouring, Eyes, and Lips.
How to apply Make up!
Applying make up is an important part of the process, as depending on the needs/problems of each skin type, we use brushes or sponges. Let's see the difference between the two:
- The sponge is necessary for the proper and uniform application of foundation. It makes it look more natural and light, while reflecting freshness. It provides light coverage regardless of the make up we use. If you want perfect coverage, you should wait for the first layer to dry and then repeat ("Ain't Nobody Got Time For That!"). But if you want a light and fresh result, then the sponge is your tool! And remember! Make up sponges are always used wet!
- The brush of make up provides intense coverage. It applies the product on the skin and leaves it there, so if you want a heavy makeup look or something more evening, the brush is your choice. And don't forget! You should wash the brushes after each application.
- Finally, your fingers are the best tool to apply products that need to be slightly warmed up before coming into contact with the skin. With your hands, you have medium coverage. Of course, we must have clean hands before application.
Fyi: Dabbing motions and avoid rubbing your skin.
