4 ways to renovate your bathroom by yourself!
The bathroom is a space we visit daily. Whether you live in a house with a bathroom from the '80s or just want a refresh, we have easy solutions to make it a reality!
Mirror
The mirror is a dominant element in your bathroom and plays a very important role in its aesthetics. We are used to most bathrooms having the classic rectangular mirror that is perfectly aligned with the rest of the furniture. It's time to break away from this logic and install a modern round mirror or even better, a glamorous mirror, to give character and unique aesthetics to your bathroom.
Believe me, changing your mirror will make a difference!
Bathroom Furniture
It is important that the furniture you have in your bathroom expresses you and matches the aesthetics of the rest of the house. Changing the bathroom furniture is not as big a deal as you might think. A new bathroom cabinet with a sink and mirror can cost less than €200 and will completely transform your space.
Alternatively, you can add small furniture to your space, such as, for example, a shelf specially designed for above the washing machine and some wall-mounted shelf or cabinet above your toilet.
Tip: Don't forget that you can give your bathroom a small makeover by simply painting your furniture and changing the knobs!
Lighting
A well-lit bathroom gives a sense of cleanliness and serenity to the space. It is common to use white light while the fixtures are either ceiling-mounted or around your mirror or furniture. This allows us to incorporate lighting into the decoration.
If you don't have lighting around your mirror or furniture, then I would suggest adding hidden lighting with LED strips
Alternatively, if your bathroom is illuminated by the lights on the main furniture, usually around the mirror, you have the perfect opportunity to change them and "play" with modern designs, urban aesthetics, or even vintage character.
Tiles
Changing the tiles in your bathroom is not only difficult and time-consuming but also expensive! However, we have the solution for you!
There are special tile paints with high resistance to moisture, so you can turn your bathroom into a sauna without any worries! All you need to do is thoroughly clean the surfaces you want to paint, apply a coat of primer if it is not included in the paint you choose, and then apply the paint in the color you have selected (usually, you need 2 coats).
Alternatively, there are techniques that allow you to stick new tiles over the existing ones without having to turn your bathroom into a construction site.
If you choose to proceed with new tiles, there are 3 steps you need to follow:
Spread the special adhesive on the surface you want to cover
Stick your tiles
Apply special grout to the tiles to seal and secure the joints so they don't come off
It may sound like a lot, but trust me, it will make your bathroom look brand new!
Tip: If your bathroom doesn't need a radical change, you can always refresh it by changing your accessories! For example, you can change your dispenser set, your curtain, your laundry basket, and of course your bath mat
