The official timeline of the game, to get you in the mood, starts in 2050 when the first humans reach Mars and by 2100 humanity has moved to space. In 2156, humans reach Alpha Centauri, 4.37 light-years away from Earth. In 2159, the United Colonies are created and in 2160 their capital is founded, named New Atlantis.
