Let's see 10 bullet points in case you're looking for (and) a... "historic" reason, to enrich your collection with a legendary Levi's 501.
• Born on May 20, 1873 (150 years old this year) in California by entrepreneur Levi Strauss and tailor Jacob Davis. Together they created the first reinforced pants with metal rivets - to meet the demanding clothing needs of workers in the gold mines - which later became known as blue jeans.
• In 1886 they added the well-known leather label with horses above the back right pocket of the pants.
• In 1890, the first recorded product of Levi's Strauss & Co is a fact and the batch number 501 gives birth to the iconic name of the jeans.
• In 1983, Karl Lagerfeld publicly "admits" his admiration for this garment and wishes he had invented it.
• In 1901, as the whole planet tries to copy the clothing phenomenon, another trademark is added. This is none other than a fifth pocket, everyone's favorite small pocket in the front, which can hold just a few coins.
• In 1933, another innovation appears. To be able to wear it with a belt, the beloved denim pants acquire loops.
• In 1936, another small invention is added to the iconic pants, to distinguish it from imitations. The small red tab with white letters appears on the side of the back pocket. A detail that still stands out today.
• In 1984, the legendary cover of the album Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen is released, featuring the blue jean and the Levi's 501 legend is firmly established in the world's consciousness.
• In 1999, Time magazine praised this garment, calling it the most influential clothing of the past century, calling it a living cultural legend.
• In 2023, you read this post on skroutz.gr and decide to add - without a second thought - another Levi's 501 to your cart, for the simple reason that no clothing collection is complete without this historic garment. We know you have others... but how many 501s are too many 501s?
