Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Review after 7 months of heavy use

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the top mobile phone from Samsung for 2023 and in my opinion the best Android phone of '23.

The model I chose is the 512GB because this version has 12GB Ram, while the smaller 256GB version has 8GB Ram.

I recommend choosing the 512GB or the 1TB, because these extra 4 GB Ram make a difference especially in multitasking!

I have been using the phone for 7 months now and I use it every day for many hours due to my work on social media, video editing, etc. I come from the Galaxy Note 10 plus and I also have an iPhone XS MAX.

As a person who does not change phones every year, but only when there is a significant upgrade that makes sense for the work I need it for. I will not talk about the stylus at all, as I never use it.

(You can see more in my short video Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra & Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro!)

What criteria did I evaluate and choose the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra?

  1. Speed

  2. Compatibility

  3. Camera

  4. Battery life

Speed: The mobile is a bullet!

With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor specially designed for the Galaxy, you won't get stuck anywhere. I use it daily to create content for my social media, mainly video content. I edit videos on my phone, upload them from my phone to all social media platforms, and it all happens without any lag.

It has very good responsiveness, it doesn't lag even with multiple programs open. It does an amazing job in video editing, it doesn't lag on the timeline at all. Especially when you're doing simpler tasks, everything is instantaneous.

The minor lags I encountered were in some applications, not the operating system, but it didn't bother me at all because it's still fast.

Speed is important to me because I spend many hours on my phone and I don't want to waste precious time dealing with lags.

Compatibility: the most flexible operating system

The reason I chose Android and not iPhone is because of how "flexible" the operating system is. File exchange with the PC is simply Plug N Play, you plug the usb into the PC and copy files.

The connection with Windows Link, which is now integrated into Android, is simply magical. It allows you to do everything from your PC through the application. All you need to do is connect to wifi and the synchronization is done automatically. For example, you can copy a link or text on the PC and paste it on your mobile. Camera

The camera is obviously one of the main criteria for choosing a mobile phone, if not the most important. It depends on the use you want of course. Here the cameras are amazing both in photography and video. Very good stabilization and very good performance in low light. It has nothing to envy from the iPhone except for the camera performance when using it through apps, such as TikTok and Instagram for example. However, software optimization plays a role there. Also, I would like better performance of the Selfie Camera in dark places.

Battery Life

The battery is a beast! With all that I described above and endless scrolling on TikTok (yes, I know I need to cut it down), the battery lasts all day. I charge it every night before I go to sleep and it easily lasts me the whole day. If you use it more casually, it can easily last 1 and a half days, maybe even 2. It's very important to mention that charging with super fast charging is incredibly fast, it charges 80% to 90% in 1 hour.

I highly recommend it in this price range.

Advantages:

  • Awesome rear cameras

  • Strong battery

  • Speed

  • Quality construction

  • Flexibility and compatibility

Disadvantages:

  • Optimization in applications

  • There is room for improvement in the operating system

  • I would like a better selfie camera.

In comparison to the Galaxy Note 10 plus and the iPhone XS MAX, from which I upgraded, the difference is huge. It's truly day and night.

Now, if you're coming from the S22 Ultra, I don't see any reason for upgrading unless you want something specific that the 22 doesn't have.

If you're a professional, content creator, or heavy user, I highly recommend it. But even for regular users, if you want the best Android mobile phone, this is it!
