Christmas Movie Night Ideas
The countdown for Christmas has begun and more or less we all think about decorations, parties, outings or simply how it is a great opportunity for relaxation. Since I was a child, I love Christmas and I am thrilled to watch movies in the living room under the light of the Christmas tree. I can't imagine a more ideal scenario than a decorated house with lots of lights and snuggling on the couch with my favorite movies.
1. It's a Wonderful Life - All time classic
The movie begins on Christmas Eve, when our hero George Bailey, a young man who gave up his dreams to save his town and his parents' small business from the ruthless businessman Henry Potter, is desperate due to financial debts and decides to end his life. His act is prevented by Clarence, an angel, who appears before him showing him how his death would affect his family and fellow citizens. It's a Wonderful Life is a heartwarming movie as the hero manages to find redemption and recognize what truly matters in life.
2. The Nightmare Before Christmas - The creepy choice
When the king of Halloween Town, Jack Skellington, discovers Christmas Town, he decides to take control of Christmas and replace Santa Claus, coming up with various macabre plans. Perhaps the most suitable movie for our transition from Halloween celebrations to the Christmas atmosphere.
3. Gremlins - Cute but psycho
A movie reminder for parents to pay special attention to the gifts they choose for Christmas because they might regret it for the whole year. Billy Peltzer receives a sweet Mogwai as a Christmas gift from his father. However, when he violates three very important rules regarding the care of his new pet, he unleashes a horde of monsters and absolute chaos!
4. A Charlie Brown Christmas - Food for thought
All Snoopy fans unite! While Snoopy and his friends are getting ready for Christmas, Charlie Brown, saddened by the commercialization he sees around him, tries to find a deeper meaning in the holiday.
5. Edward Scissorhands - A Little Romance
Edward Scissorhands is an artificial man, who was created with scissors for hands and was left unfinished when his inventor died. His life is turned upside down when he is taken in by a suburban family and begins to experience emotions and form relationships with the people around him. In the movie, we see one of the most iconic Christmas scenes where during the house decoration, Edward creates sculptures out of ice with his hands and the daughter of the family, Kim, dances around him, enjoying the rain created by the ice.
6. Mickey's Christmas Carol - An alternative Scrooge
The classic story of Scrooge obviously couldn't be missing from any list of Christmas movies, but one of the cutest and personally my favorite version is Mickey's Christmas Carol where our beloved Mickey Mouse and his friends embody the famous tale of Charles Dickens.
